The X Factor UK recently released an unearthed video footage, revealing how British girl band Little Mix was formed. Apparently, it was Kelly Rowland who insisted the foursome, leading the girls to become the first ever group to win the series.

Kelly Rowland is the Brain Behind Little Mix

In 2011, members Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Jesy Nelson came to The X Factor UK as solo artists. While star potential was present in each of them, judge Kelly Rowland knew that they would work well together.

In the video, Rowland pointed out how she likes Pinnock and Thirlwall. She then put the photos of the two alongside Edwards’ and Nelson’s, insisting her vision to the judges.

“That is strong, vocally,” she said.

For the Destiny’s Child alum, it’s all about “finding the next generation and discovering something new.” Subsequently, she explained that Edwards and Nelson greatly worked together, but Pinnock will complete their harmony.

“[Leigh-Anne] has this nice, soft texture that fills it all in,” she said.

She also added each of the four has “personality” to offer, to which judge Tulisa agreed on. However, at that stage of the competition, judge Louis Walsh was concerned if they would still “gel.”

“Yes, they will. I will make certain of it,” Rowland said.

Rowland continued telling other judges to put the girls together until the end of the video. Years later, her gut instinct can be thanked for this successful group. Little Mix has become one of the most successful girl groups The X Factor UK has created.

Fans Praise Rowland for Her Vision

Since The X Factor released the never-before-seen video, it’s gone viral online. Fans have been praising Rowland for her critical eye and success of the girl group. Some fans even joked that Little Mix should be called Destiny’s Grandchildren.

“Kelly Rowland is an exceptional singer and performer who understands performance dynamics and tone sensibilities even as a young artist,” one person commented. “She just knew their tones were different but complementary to each other.”

Meanwhile, other fans reminisced on the creation of some of the other music groups. It turns out, some of the most successful groups come from judges that were in groups of their own. Like Rowland, the creator of One Direction, Nicole Scherzinger was apart of a large group herself.

As of the moment, Little Mix is on hiatus, with the trio currently busying themselves with motherhood. On the other hand, Jesy Nelson left the group by the end of 2020 and is now preparing for her solo debut.
