The Voice Season 21 returned on Monday for the first night of the finale. The Top 5 artists each performed twice during the show for a chance to be named this season’s winner. In addition to an up-tempo song, they also each sang a ballad with an emotional dedication.

Even before the winner is announced, this is an historic finale. Sibling act Girl Named Tom is the first trio to make it to the Finals. If they win the season, they’ll be the first group to ever earn the trophy. Also notable is that new coach Ariana Grande has zero artists in the Top 5.

Voting is open to viewers until 7 a.m. ET on Tuesday morning. We’ll find out Tuesday night which artist will be named the winner of The Voice Season 21. The star-studded final episode will air at 9 p.m. ET.

Girl Named Tom Fights to Be the First Group to Win

Girl Named Tom showed off their fierce side and their soft side during Monday’s episode. The group started off by delivering a powerhouse performance of “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. They said fans have been asking them to sing the song, and they delivered. Blake Shelton said he thinks they’re secretly country.

Later in the night, the trio took the stage to perform a sweet cover of “Baby Now That I’ve Found You” by the Foundations. The siblings sat on stools and sang the track accompanied by a banjo. Their coach Kelly Clarkson called it a “flawless performance.”

Clarkson’s other artist, 14-year-old Hailey Mia, also slayed yet another ballad on Monday night, singing Billie Eilish’s “idontwannabeyouanymore.” Clarkson said she’s grown the most out of all the artists in the competition. She also liked her “angsty” side on “deja vu” by Olivia Rodrigo.

Wendy Moten Takes Us Over the Rainbow

Team Blake artist Wendy Moten continued to wow the judges with both of her performances on Monday night. First, she took on a Whitney Houston classic, “How Will I Know.” The fun performance featured dancers roller-skating around the stage, but her voice was show-stopping enough.

Her coach Blake Shelton called it “one of the greatest live vocal performances I have ever heard in my life.” Later on, Wendy one-upped herself by singing “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz, which she performed when she was growing up. It was an amazing way to close the show, as Shelton called her a “world-class talent.”

Monday’s show also featured some soulful performances from Shelton’s other artist, Paris Winningham. He started off by singing “Me and Mrs. Jones” by Billy Paul, prompting Shelton to say he “just sold millions of tickets for concerts that you haven’t even booked yet.” Later, he sang “Ain’t Nobody (Loves Me Better)” and threw his hat to Grande during the fun performance.

Jershika Maple Brings the House Down After Last Week’s Instant Save

Last week, Jershika Maple sang her heart out to win The Voice Instant Save vote and earn a place in the Top 5. This week, she proved just how much she deserved that spot with two powerhouse performances, starting with “I’m Goin’ Down” by Mary J. Blige.

Jershika’s former coach Kelly Clarkson called herself “an idiot” for letting her go, while her current coach John Legend thanked her for it. He called Jershika “such a gift to work with.” Later, after her performance of “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele, he said “there is no one like you.”

During Monday’s show, host Carson Daly expressed his amazement over the night’s performances, saying he doesn’t know who will win. We’ll have to wait and see what happens on Tuesday night.
