Sydnie Christmas Named BGT 2024 Winner

After earning a Golden Buzzer in her audition, Sydnie went straight to the Semifinals, where she performed “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. The performance earned her a spot in the Series 17 finale on Sunday night.

For her last chance to be named the winner, Sydnie sang “Over the Rainbow” from The Wizard of Oz. She showed off a powerhouse voice with an incredible range. The performance had the audience cheering, and the panel gave her a standing ovation at the end. Holden called it “utterly spellbinding.”

At the end of the show, hosts Ant and Dec announced the winner of the competition and the £250,000 prize. Sydnie took the top spot, while magician Jack Rhodes came in second place, and dance duo Abigail & Afronitaaa took third place.

Sydnie got emotional before her name was even announced. She was speechless at first, before sharing, “I cannot believe the amount of love that I’ve felt since it aired. I am overwhelmed with love, and it is the most amazing thing.”

Sydnie Says It ‘Hasn’t Sunk In’ That She Won

Sydnie appeared on This Morning on Monday to talk about her win. She told that hosts that it “hasn’t sunk in” that she won, adding, “What is my life?” She said waiting to hear who won the show was the “scariest thing ever.”

After the Semifinals, Sydnie said she only had three days to put together a performance for the finale. When the show suggested she sing “Over the Rainbow,” she wasn’t sure at first, since Loren Allred had performed a similar rendition on AGT: Fantasy League earlier this year and later released it as a single.

Eventually, Sydnie figured out how to put her “own kiss on it.” She added that Loren Allred “was so supportive,” even sending her a video message. Sydnie said she “sobbed,” adding, “This is a ride that I don’t want to get off.”
