Kelly Clarkson has been leaning on some of her celebrity friends as she is going through a divorce from Brandon Blackstock. Reba McEntire, who was married to Brandon’s father Narvel Blackstock, has been there for Kelly through it all. The divorce has affected Kelly deep down in ways that viewers do not get to see on The Voice or The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Reba McEntire Weighs In On Kelly Clarkson’s Divorce
Kelly filed for divorce from Brandon back in June citing “irreconcilable differences.” The pair were married for nearly 7 years and have two children together. A source close to Kelly shared with OK! Magazine how Reba truly feels about the divorce. “As Brandon’s former stepmom, Reba has a rare insight into the situation,” they said. “She can see Kelly’s really suffering.”

Kelly was previously hit with a lawsuit from the Blackstock families company Starstruck Management Group for $1.4 million in unpaid commissions. She fired back at the company with her own lawsuit alleging that she is owed “unconscionable fees” for “illegal services.” Brandon also requested $436,000 in monthly spousal and child support. This would equal to over $5.2 million per year. Plus, he asked her for $2 million in legal fees.
In June 2020, sources said that Reba was not choosing a side. “Reba’s supportive of both Brandon and Kelly’s decision to split. She’s anguished about it, but she’s not one to judge” a source told Us Weekly.
Kelly and Reba have been close friends for years even after Reba split with Narvel in 2015. “I’ve been a fan of Reba since I was a little girl,” Kelly said at the Kennedy Center Honors. “Her voice has always felt nostalgic for me. Even as an adult, there’s something about her tone and her storytelling that just feels like home.”
“Sometimes when we meet our heroes, it doesn’t always pan out how you hope” she continued. “But meeting Reba, being friends with her and eventually becoming family has been one of the highlights of my life, truly.”
Kelly’s Other Celebrity Friends Are Supporting Her During This Time
Kelly’s fellow coach on The Voice, Blake Shelton, has also been in her corner throughout the divorce. “Blake has been supportive and the friend she has needed, as always,” a source told Us Weekly. “Blake and Kelly often joke they are siblings.”
During an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly spoke with Gwyneth Paltrow about whether or not she would ever get married again. “Coming from someone who’s literally amidst a divorce, I can’t even imagine doing it again,” Kelly said. “So that’s amazing that you found love and you found the space and the vulnerability…to say yes and do it again.”

Gwyneth remains optimistic about Kelly’s love life and told her it takes time to be ready for marriage again. Kelly spoke about how she is now dating herself. “You actually make time for you again. And I love dating me, so I’m actually not looking for it” she said.
