Jackie Evancho has been silent on social media since December 2, 2020 when she posted about her season of The Masked Singer. Since then the America’s Got Talent singer has gone completely missing in action. No Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or even YouTube posts. Now, the young opera singer is back with a heartbreaking and honest reason behind her absence.

Jackie broke her social media silence yesterday, sharing a topless photo of her with an extremely long caption explaining where she’s been. She wrote that her disordered eating issues have not gotten better since sharing it to the public and she is currently getting help.

“I continue to struggle with my weight issues as well as other issues and am currently getting help, but I am still struggling,” Jackie wrote. “I stayed away from social media because when I first made public the fact that I suffer from anorexia some commented that I ‘didn’t look like I had anorexia’ which made it even worse. Now that I have been receiving the help I need I am ready to share with all of you the reasons for my long absence from the public eye and ask that you bare with me through this.”

Jackie Evancho is Entering Another Regrowth and Recovery Period

Jackie shared her message to Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.  At the end of her message, she thanked fans for their support throughout her current regrowth period. Jackie wants to get back to doing what she loves, after she’s fully recovered.

“I am deeply sorry for being gone for so long, but it was something that I couldn’t help and also needed. Mental health is a real thing and the power of the mind is a crazy phenomenon,” Jackie wrote. “Take care of yourselves, pay attention to the signs in yourself and others, and remember that seeking and receiving help is nothing to be ashamed of. We are all human and need a helping hand.”

Fans left comments on Jackie’s post sharing how brave she is for sharing her personal struggles even if they are months after. They also left comments encouraging the singer through her recovery process.

This singer was diagnosed with anorexia at the age of 17, but had been struggling with disordered eating since she was 15 years old. In a 2019 interview, Jackie talked about having a hard time with her body image. She saw herself as only her young self, which was extremely harmful as her body matured. In the past she had talked about how her body made her feel so upset that she would sometimes go days without eating.

Before this point, it seemed like 2020 was Jackie’s regrowth period. She was becoming the performer she really wanted to be and was finally shedding her child-star mold. This singer began singing in the genre that she loved and worked to revamp her career on The Masked Singer
