American Idol Season 16 finalist Gabby Barrett announced on her Instagram Friday that she would have to cancel this weekend’s scheduled performances due to illness. Barrett was set to perform three dates in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and New York.

Gabby Barrett Cancels Shows Due to Illness

“I’m sad to announce that I have to cancel this weekend of dates due to illness,” Barrett wrote on Instagram stories. “I hate this part of it, but at the same time it’s best to let my voice and body recover rather than pushing through this time.”

The singer finished her message by writing, “I always strive to give my fans the best show possible when I step on stage and am looking forward to being back soon. Love y’all.”

According to Barrett’s website, she was scheduled to perform on Friday night with Ashley McBryde in Bay City, Michigan. She also had a show lined up for Saturday in Philadelphia, as well as one on Sunday in Canandaigua, New York — both with Kane Brown and Restless Road.

Barrett didn’t specify what illness led to the cancellation, but she’s not the only artist to make such a decision in recent months. Morgan Wallen postponed several tour dates after being put on vocal rest. Lizzo also canceled a show due to illness earlier this year.

Barrett Recently Released ‘Glory Days’

Last month, Barrett released a new single called “Glory Days,” in which she reflects on how happy she is with her current life. Barrett is married to fellow Idol contestant Cade Foehner, and the couple shares two children together.

Earlier this week, Barrett released the official music video for the song, which depicts her and her family having fun together. They can be seen playing outside and cooking in the kitchen. There are even a few shots of Barrett and Foehner riding a four-wheeler.

After this weekend, Barrett has several more shows lined up throughout the summer, in cities around the United States and Canada. Hopefully she’ll be recovered soon.
