During Wednesday’s episode of The Masked Singer Season 9, Dandelion was revealed to be actress and singer Alicia Witt. In a new interview, Witt opened up about doing the show not long after battling breast cancer.

Alicia Witt Talks About The Masked Singer Experience

Witt told People that she got the offer to do The Masked Singer on the same day she had undergone breast reconstruction surgery. The actress opened up about her battle with breast cancer last year, having undergone chemotherapy and a mastectomy.

She said getting the offer when she did “felt like divine timing,” and she “didn’t have to think very hard at all” about accepting it. Witt called the show “really profound” because of how it removes “preconceived notions” about people before they perform.

“It makes me so emotional just thinking about the feeling of connecting with that audience without being able to see them and without them being able to see me,” Witt said. “[It] was utterly magical for me. It wouldn’t be the same if I were just myself. It was a very emotional experience for me.”

Witt also shared that she was “100 percent healed” when she taped her episodes of the show, adding, “That was amazing, to celebrate my reconstruction in that way, because it was kind of a tight-fitting costume.”

Witt Wanted to Hug Ken Jeong for Guessing Her

Although The Masked Singer panelist Ken Jeong is known for making ridiculously incorrect guesses about the celebrities under the masks, he was the only one to correctly identify Witt before she was unmasked. He put together clues pointing to her work on Dune and The Walking Dead.

“I wanted more than anything to jump into the crowd and crowd-surf over to Ken,” Witt said of her unmasking. “I wanted to give him a huge hug. He’s the only one that guessed me, so I was like, ‘Wow, I want to hug you!'”

Wednesday’s episode also revealed the identity of new contestant Lamp, who was unmasked as Sabrina the Teenage Witch star Melissa Joan Hart. She participated in the Battle Royale against UFO, who was chosen to move on.
